The Location
 The picturesque traditional village of Mathes
is about 500m away and is surrounded by forests and dramatic
ravines, which provide magnificent natural places full of the fauna
and flora of Crete. There is a little kafeneion/ tavern where the
village people meet.
For those who prefer the hustle and bustle of a small tourist area,
Georgioupolis offers is only about 2km away. Here one can find
tavernas, restaurants, cafes and some bars. The village also has a
bank and a variety of shops to meet shoppers’ needs. The
numerous hotels in Georgioupolis offer all sorts of sea sports and
fun as well as horse-riding, tennis etc. The picturesque small
fishing harbour offers rental boats for one to explore the
coastline, go on fishing trips and other types of recreation. Here
one finds the longest stretch of sandy beach on the North coastline

Georgioupolis is ideal, just on the doorstep!
 All the surrounding area is protected with green belts of oak and
carob forests and boasts one of the most spectacular natural
regions of northern Crete. One can take nature trails into the
neighbouring hills and ravines or to the charming lake of Kournas
2km away where a strip of white sand beside the lake provides an
area for swimming and cafes. In short, this area offers sea and/or
mountain life according to whatever one feels like doing!
