The Location
The village of
Kavousi is located at the northern coast of the county of Ierapetra. It
is 27 km away from Agios Nikolaos, 19 km from Ierapetra and 40 from Sitia,
built on the foot of the hill "Afentis" at 140m above sea level. This
property is viewable on Google Maps.
It is the seat of the municipality of the same name with about 800
inhabitants. Its main product is olive oil. There is also a traditional
production of abstracts from olive trees, cedar trees and sage. Kavousi is
on the national road and is one of the larger villages of Crete, retaining
all it’s traditional charm while providing modern facilities, including
schools, for easy and convenient living.
The village is 1.5 miles from the beautiful and quiet cove of Tholos with
it’s pebble and sand beach. The bay has a small sheltered harbour, a kantina
