€32,000
The Location
Situated in a village of near the south east coast of Crete
The Property
This detached large property is reputed to be over 200 years old
is in a very dilapidated state but would make a wonderful residence once
restored.
Built of stone with walls over half a yard thick the house has all the
traditional features waiting to be restored to their former glory. Many of
the original ceiling beams (complete tree trunks) remain. The main walls are
sound and without any sign of movement over the centuries. For the past 60
years the property has been used as store rooms by the village elders and
parts of the building have disintegrated due to lack of maintained. Most of
the original stick and clay roof has gone and that which remains was at some
time in the past given a thin coat of cement and needs to be replaced. There
is a local building yard and there are local builders that do this type of
restoration work regularly and to a modern standard.
Electricity to the property has been disconnected and needs complete
rewiring. There is water to the property.
The property is L shaped with 4 rooms in a side street and 2 on the wider
village road. Some of the rooms are 2 story but the wooden staircase has
disintegrated. There may be some rooms below the property and there is an
area for a courtyard behind. From the upper level there are uninterrupted
sea and mountain views.
