Village property in need of renovation, with small garden close to
both the north and south coasts - €25,000
*The price does not include, taxes, legal expenses, agency fees
The Location
This property is located in the village of Messeleri, a traditional rural
Cretan village just a short driver from both the north and south coasts of
Crete. Located in the Lerapetra,
Messeleri is largely a farming community.
The Property
Through entrance, the room to the right has have been extended upwards
in the last 40 odd year with concrete blocks and has some subsidence due to
the stone in the wall beneath this room coming loose due to neglect. It is
envisaged that the lower wall will have to be repaired and the concrete
block work replaced with stone to keep it in keeping with the remainder of
the building. The whole building appears to be sited on a solid rock
foundation although this would have to be confirmed by an engineer
(surveyor).
Continuing through the entrance brings you to a private terrace with a grape
vine in situ. Part of this terrace could be covered and so provide a
connection between the single room of the left to the 2 rooms of the right.
These rooms would also need refurbishment, including re-plastering,
rewiring, plumbing etc.
The roof on this property would have to be replaced and generally
strengthened. A number of roof beams and trusses are in a good enough state
to be cleaned and their character retained and so re-incorporated back into
the refurbished structure. This is not deemed to be a large engineering
project as refurbishment like this are common in Crete and labour is readily
available.
The low price of this property reflects the fact that work will have to be
completed to make it inhabitable.
This property is not overlooked and is connected to the main services, water,
electric etc. Topograph available.
