A truly remote and private hideaway in southern Crete for those wishing to escape the hustle and bustle of modern life
€400 pcm - Minimum rental period 6 months
This quaint cabin is available for holiday rental on a weekly,
monthly or 9 month+ basis and is in a remote and very private
location of south east Crete. It offers the right ambiance for those
people looking for total seclusion.
Divided into three separate sections, the left being the main
bedroom containing a double bed, the centre section containing the
kitchen and living area and to the right is the shower and WC.
Please note that this cabin is due for a refit and tidied, some
of the furniture shown in the photographs will be changed, and others
added, table chairs, etc.
The veranda and barbeque area will undoubtedly be the area where you
will spend most of the time and so enjoy the outdoors life. Due to
the nearby olive trees one can only see glimpses of the sea from the
veranda but a better view can be had from above the house.
It is connected to both electricity and water if also has a gas
cooker, microwave oven, fridge etc. Those persons considering taking
this property beyond a weekly basic then the electricity and gas are
not included in the rental price. Please note that this property
would be fine for a couple as a long term rental, but due to the
nature of the cabin then it would suite a family of 4 persons only
to live in it for a short term rental. Additional beds would be
provided on request.
The nearest beach is approx. 400 meters down a gently sloping
plateau and then down a further 100 meter escarpment with steps
leading down to the private sandy beach. Other beaches are also
available nearby via tracks.
It would be a joy to stay here if you like walking or mountain
biking as there are plenty of tracks and trails to explore. It would
also suite someone who likes to paint or perhaps an author writing a
book, photographer, or even someone who is generally looking to completely escape
the general pressures of daily life.
The nearest village,
Arvi with it's new harbour, is approx. 3km away along rough
agricultural tracks. A vehicle of some description (4x4 preferred)
would be required if you decided to stay at this property
(especially over the winter period). This area of Crete generally
benefits from very mild and dry winters, mainly due to the
protection of the mountains to the north and is in an extensively
agricultural area and is not touristy.
There are a lot of typical Cretan mountain villages such as Amiras,
Valios, Kato Simi, Sikologos, Ghohia, etc to explore as well as a
number of fishing villages such as Arvi, Miros (recommend), Tersa,
Keratokambos, etc. Due to the climate this area of Crete has a
number of large ‘greenhouses’ providing shade for the growing of
bananas, tomatoes. Surrounding the cabin and plateau are a large
number or olive trees (very common in Crete).
