DAVID WEBB - PROFESSIONAL ARTIST AND AUTHOR
BIOGRAPHY
David Webb
is a professional artist and author of 'Still Life in Watercolour', which has
been published in several languages. He has also made a video/DVD of the same
title. Born in East London, David started his working life as an illustrator but
now runs his own watercolour workshops and painting breaks.
As a tutor he strongly believes that everyone can be taught to paint, as long as
they are keen. Demonstrations form a major part of his teaching methods,
‘There’s nothing like watching an artist show you how a technique is achieved’.
Step-by-step exercises are also a feature of his courses.
Dave
paints a variety of subjects, in watercolour and acrylic. Originally starting
out as an illustrator of natural history publications, he now paints in a much
looser style. Animals remain a favourite subject matter for him, however, his
courses and workshops
cover
a range of subject matter including landscape/seascape and still life.
As well as teaching, Dave regularly demonstrates to art societies and writes
illustrated articles for popular art magazines. He lives in Devon with his
family.
His 'Start the Clock'
article published in the July 2004 addition of the 'LeisurePainter' magazine (www.leisurepainter.co.uk),
described how he learned to loosen up his painting style. Follow some of his
step by step exercises to help improve you own painting style or join one of his
classes.
